junkyard

julia introduced me to a junkyard about an hour and a half away from long beach today that was beyond amazing. I bought a vintage vacuum collection, among other things, filling most of her vehicle. It was not only a series of buildings housing different types of curious antique objects, but an entire yard of piles of old, sun faded junk. it was as magical as the salton sea, minus the smell of rotting fish.

my first flats, krista's art installation at csulb, breakfast with joe in seal beach, and a few shelves of the yarn room in weaving.

we are off to celebrate each other with a day off from art, cell phones and internet. we will be back monday, in time for class, bible study and the new pj harvey cd...

best meal of the day: breakfast

mostly spinach omelet with tomatoes, avocado and swiss cheese invented by joe this morning

"It is important to note the 'marbled' eggs, which are only swirled together in the pan and not blended before cooking. Fresh spinach was fried with garlic and tomato wedges were fried slightly before being added to the cooked eggs. Slices of cheese and avocado were then added. I added salt and pepper to enhance the vegetables/avocado. The result is a chunky omelet with unblended ingredients, unlike you would get at Denny's"
